Housing 1:1 Advice Sessions

What’s it about? Speak to a member of Dacorum Borough Council Housing Team for a free 25 minute appointment who will offer advice and guidance to any housing queries.

Family Toolkit
Dates: Thursday 26th September – Thursday 17th October 2019
Time: 10.00am – 12.00pm
What’s it about? The Parenting Puzzle is a toolkit of useful ideas to help you enjoy family life. The Nurturing Programme builds on our existing parenting skills and helps us think about: why children behave as they do, the feelings behind behaviour (ours and theirs), different approaches to discipline, developing co-operation and self-discipline in children, the importance of looking after ourselves.

Autism Support – 1:1 Advice Sessions
Date: Tuesday 8th October 2019
Time: 9.30am – 10.00am, 10.05am – 10.35am, 10.40am – 11.10am and 11.15am – 11.45am
What’s it about? Jill Stevens, Specialist Teacher for Autism & Communication will be holding free 30 minute 1:1 advice for parents with children who have an Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Diagnosis or suspected ASD.

Not Fine in School Workshop
Dates: Tuesday 15th October 2019
Time: 7.00pm – 9.00pm
What’s it about? Workshop supporting parents whose child/ren are experiencing school refusal and attendance difficulties.

Debt Management – 1:1 Advice Sessions
Date: Thursday 24th October 2019
Time: 9.30am – 10.00am, 10.05am – 10.35am, 10.40am – 11.10am and 11.15am – 11.45am
What’s it about? CAP provides a free and comprehensive debt counselling service. They help local families overcome the difficulties of debt. As part of their service, they offer 1:1 advice, where you can speak confidentially to one of their fully qualified debt coaches to discuss the best options to get on top of your money worries.

Teen Brain – 4 week course
Dates: Wednesday 13th November – Wednesday 4th December 2019
Time: 10.00am -12.00pm
What’s it about? The workshop offer an opportunity to understand something of what’s going on in the adolescent brain and provide strategies for supporting and communicating with young people. The following is covered:
• The foundations of positive parenting: providing warmth and structure
• Messages from research: the teenage brain, sleeping habits and more
• Handling difficult issues: drug & alcohol, social media. sex, sexuality and staying safe
• Power, boundaries and problem solving
